Tešanj lies among the hills along river Tešanjka, at 230 meters above sea level. In Tešanj you have to come deliberately from a crossroads in Doboj to Tešanjka or Jelah, and then follow up the road to Tešanj.
Area of municipality Tešanj is 160 km2 with population around 53 000 inhabitants. The municipality of Tešanj is bordering with the municipalities of Doboj, Doboj-Jug, Teslić and Maglaj.
Besides natural beauty, Tešanj has a rich cultural-historical past. Under its present name, Tešanj is first mentioned 1461. in the charter, in which King Stjepan Tomaševic to his uncle Radivoje Krstić, among other things ''gives the town Tešanj on the river Usora''. Tešanj in its city core inherited series of cultural - historical monuments such as ancient fort, one of the most important and largest fortresses in B&H, then Ferhadija mosque, built in 1564.
Clock tower is particularly interesting, which is one of four in Bosnia, which still work, and was built in the 17th century and 18.5 meters high.
There is also Eminagića house, the oldest and most beautiful building of family architectural heritage in Tešanj, and it is considered that it was built back in 1860.
Furthermore, Tešanj is best known in the world with its mineral water springs of which almost all carry the world's largest awards for quality. This is why a tourist - recreational zone Kiseljak, certainly is very interesting destination for those who appreciate the original - natural values and their own health.
